Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt Reviews
Seasonal thing-to-do, Christmas market Dec 19, 2011
The seasonal Christmas market in Stuttgart is pretty big. Compared with the one in Munich I'd say it's bigger. They sell the same kinds of things as at any other Christmas market with some odd things mixed in between, such as kitchen and cleaning supplies, not kidding!
I love the stalls. They are decorated with different Christmas themes. Each stand is different, so it's not just something you go to buy things, it's something for the eye too. I especially liked the HUGE Christmas pyramid/windmill with candles, which makes windmill spin. Another favorite of mine are the smokers and scented oils you drop in some water.
You can get all the Christmas market staples: Gluehwein, Christmas cookies, ornaments, candle holders, etc.
I did some very last minute Christmas gift shopping and paid the price for it. Obviously things at the market are more expensive than in stores. Some of the stalls sell handmade items and that is what you pay for.
My favorite buy this year was the Stuttgarter Gluehwein (white) already packaged for my family. Nothing personal but I thought I'd bring a little bit of Swabia to my Bavarian family.
If you're already in Stuttgart and it happens to be December stop on by. You won't regret it. :)
