Stung Treng is a small town along the Mekong River, 300km from Phnom Penh. This place is mostly used as a stop-over during a roundtrip Cambodia. There is an airport but not with any regular services. There is a big market in the middle of the town and many restaurants on the river side, nearby the harbour. There is also a hospital here but only for first aid help.

Upon arrival we had a little wander around the city although it was baking hot, so we didn't stay out too long. We spent the rest of the day reading, relaxing and aching from the previous day.On Sunday we caught a bus to the Cambodian Border, where a $2 bribe, sorry 'processi...

You would never believe that Laos is located between two visited countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, unless you go there and see it. Unlike those two countries, beautiful as well but much more tourist, Laos seems to belong to another planet. You´ll notice it by looking at the people. Children and adults will wave and smile to you not because they want to get something from you, but just because they are authentic. Laos is a jewel not found yet. Hopefully it will last forever...

Sep 07, 2007 - Mar 31, 2008
So there are three places in Don Det that sell tickets to Ban Lung, the capital of the Rattanikiri province, and the main place I wanted to visit in Cambodia, even though I barely have time to make it back to Bangkok as things stand. The first, Island Travel quoted $25. The second Xangphon (or something similar) quoted $40, and the third, by the river, the Open Bus Ticket was $45. I was worried about the difference in price as I have heard stories about travel operators saying they'll...
