Story Inn Reviews
Eating Between the Lines Aug 23, 2015
Offering this review as a restaurant, despite the establishment name and the fact that TB won’t let me do otherwise (I tried twice to force this to be a restaurant review, but it keeps overriding me!). Genuinely hope to return some day and sample their lodging, because the town and environment are a true delight.
The restaurant sits on the first floor of the old General Store, marvelously restored and chock full of period decorations. I often find these tacky, but the Story Inn selections were surprisingly tasteful. And tasteful is a perfect way to describe their food! I ordered the Angus Burger, which was promptly presented, beautifully presented, and delicious. A really good cut of beef excellently cooked and complemented with a yummy brioche roll (and plenty of onion, unlike yesterday’s venture at Hinkle’s in Madison). Even the cole slaw was delicious, with the perfect touch of vinegar.
Service was competent; though I’m sure some might gripe it was not as ‘professional’ as warranted by prices. I dismiss any objection, because the cost was not unreasonable nor sky high, and given the remote location one can only expect so much. Besides, the taste is the bottom line and the Story Inn merited five stars on this front!
In spite of the casual atmosphere, please note reservations are required for dinner!
