Stonehenge II Hunt Reviews
Stonehenge #2 - a miniature Apr 16, 2008
A few people in Texas are as odd as people in California. We found this site by looking in RoadsideAmerica.co.
It was a rancher here in this area just outside Hunt, Texas, by the name of Sam Sheppard who got the brilliant idea after an extra slab of limestone he had after completion of a patio was stood on end.
That was back in 1989, and over the next year this replica was completed. It is 90% as wide as the original and about 60% the height. It is not made of solid stone, but rather a metal mesh and frame covered with plaster. And it is built the way Stonehenge may have looked originally.
Almost two years later, after visiting Easter Island he decided to add two 13 feet tall heads to his pasture.
His son now owns the property and keeps the sign in place and allows the self tour of the pasture.
