Stone Lake Cranberry Festival Reviews
fall colors and fresh cranberries Oct 06, 2006
The Cranberry Festival in Northern Wisconsin is a fall celebration of the cranberry harvest complete with a parade, arts and crafts market and a tour of a cranberry marsh.
Many local artisans set up booths to sell handmade crafts including wooden furniture, knit woolens, pottery and photographs. Several booths and restaurants sell food and drinks. For a small fee ($5) you can take a bus tour out to a local cranberry marsh to watch the harvest and learn about cranberry farming. A little shop at the marsh has women sorting cranberries and cranberry products for sale. I got some delicious flavored dried cranberries (craisins) and my mom got a bag of berries for cooking.
A parade runs through town during the day that includes several floats, bands, horses and fire engines. As you walk the streets, you feel a sense of community with the local residents and everyone is very friendly. There is also a baking contest and many cranberry foods to sample. It is a nice way to spend a Saturday in northern Wisconsin in the fall.
