Stockholm Inn Reviews
Cramped but cheap Jan 22, 2013
The Stockholm Inn is a budget hotel with a very central location on the Drottinggatan shopping street in the very heart of Stockholm. Metro station Hötorget is just around the corner and it’s only a ten minutes’ walk from the railway station and airport train terminal.
On a first visit, it’s not easy to find the hotel. At the address, there is the sign saying “Stockholm Inn”, but there’s only an entrance to a tiny “Wayne’s” coffee shop downstairs. After walking past several times, I went into the coffee shop to ask for directions. Turns out that the access and check-in is at this very coffee shop! The barista has an Ipad on which the check in is done!
All rooms are in the basement; hence none of them have windows or daylight. The rooms are some sort of capsules with only the bare necessities. My room was less than 4 square meters and contained a bunk bed , a tiny place to hang clothes and a flat-screen TV. It even features free wifi. At the tiny bathroom they fitted the shower, toilet and sink in an area smaller than 2 square meters. Yet the tiny space contained all a traveler really needs and was meticulously clean.
There are no room keys but you get the access code both to the room and to the front door upon check in. But even then there is some kind of night person (not a real receptionist)on duty after the coffee shop has closed.
Breakfast is served at the coffee shop. For 5 EUR you get a cheese or ham and salad sandwich with a large cup of coffee and a glass of fresh orange juice.
Given the fact I only paid 89 EUR for a night, while other hotels in the center cost close to double that amount, I’d consider this place good value for money. It’s okay for one night, but for an extended stay, I would be happier with a bit more space.
