Stillwater Vacation Guide
Stillwater is the dubbed "the Birth Place of Minnesota" because it is the first town to be founded in the state. Founded in 1837 is sits along the St. Croix River directly across from Wisconsin.
The town got its roots as a lumbering town and you can still see an old plant along the St. Croix and Stillwater was also home to the first Prison in 1853 for the Minnesota Territory.
The town still has the old town feel to it with the victorian houses, historical Main street and historical points of interest such as the lift bridge (which is one of the only 5 in the country) and the ride on the Minnesota Zephyr... and dinner train ride which takes you back in time.
