It's not Thai, but it's good sushi with mediocre service Oct 14, 2010
My opinion of this place changes each time I visit and it heads in the same direction-downward.

Don't let the name fool you, it's not a Thai restaurant, but they do serve good sushi. It's an ecclectic restuarant on the H street corridor (which is SLOWLY being revitalized). The sushi is well decorated and they serve other menu items (including their infamous bucket of tater tots).

Most of the people who work there just seem to roll out of bed and come into work like it is such an effort. No one there seems to really love their job and it shows in the service. When it's slow, they are so laxidazical (where's a dictionary when you need one). When it's crowded, they have more staff, but the service isn't that much better.

It's a good place to go chill, but don't order take-out. They take a long time to prepare the food and you might as well just eat it there. If you decide to stay and eat, don't expect the service to be quick. If you have vertigo, don't use the bathroom, the wall paper is crazy. It's a popular spot; don't be alarmed if you see patrons or staff signing, Sticky Rice is close to Gallaudet Univeristy-the premier university for Deaf people.

Far East Meets...The South? Sep 28, 2009
Long a Richmond institution that was recently imported to DC, Sticky Rice offers a combination of the chic, the hip and…the south. The signature fare is delicious American influenced Sushi, such as the Sticky Balls with tuna and crab, and the Drawn-n-Buttered with shrimp and crab; but the standard appetizer is a shared bucket of tater tots. Yes, those delicious fried tots you got back in high school, served by the bucket, with special house-made dipping sauce. Wash it all down with an ice cold can of Pabst Blue Ribbon, and stick around for Tuesday night Karaoke, and you’ve got the complete Sticky Rice experience.
