Located in gorgeous La Jolla, California is a long time favorite, the Stephen Birch Aquarium which is part of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. If for no other reason to visit, just go for the view! If you are really into aquariums then make sure to check out their website for the feeding schedule. This aquarium reminds me of a hands on science center in some parts such as the 'wonders of the water' exhibit. Other reasons to go are: tide pool discovery area, view of the coast line, shark exhibit, the 70,000 gallon kelp forest is awe inspiring. One of my favorite sections was the coral displays. These colorful coral made my saltwater tank looks like it needs some work. It was incredible to see how large some of the pieces had gotten. The mushrooms were beautiful, the candy cane coral was some of the healthiest I have ever seen, pink star grass in bunches and some of the bubble coral was so large they had multiple mouths. Lots of fun times at the aquarium and amazing coral tanks!

I lived in San Diego for 30yrs+ on and off but never been here. The funny things is I give people directions to the Birch Aquarium all the time.
Inspiring, Thanks!
