Visiting the Statue of Liberty Aug 05, 2008
If you are going to New York, I suggest visiting the Met Art Museum. It's a fantastic place that covers every era of art, including modern day. Of course, you have to take a walk in Central Park while you are there, and don't forget Times Square! However, visiting the Statue of Liberty is a little bland. Liberty Island isn't that exciting. I'm not saying you shouldn't pay the ferry fee and wait in the security line, because you should! Ellis Island is where you will be glad you rode the ferry. At Ellis Island there is pretty much an entire museum dedicated to the struggles in getting into America. Not to mention, you can try finding your name on the wall. But, while you're on Ellis Island, if you like fudge, I suggest going to the food court. There is a fudge stand right by the entrance, and their fudge is not only cheap, it is amazing! I enjoyed New York, and I loved the ferry ride out to the islands, but with nothing to do but visit the cafe/gift shop on Liberty Island, I enjoyed looking at the Statue of Liberty from a distance.
