State College Vacation Guide

State College is a small central Pennsylvania town, located in Happy Valley south of Interstate 80. There are many small shops and restaurants, giving the town a friendly feel. The Penn State Creamery is a must-see. Stop in for ice cream, sherbet or cheese!

The dominant presence in the town, however, is the main campus of Pennsylvania State University. Nittany Lion football draws huge crowds on Saturdays in the Fall. Penn State is a member of the Big Ten conference, competing against the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Legendary football coach Joe Paterno has lead the Nittany Lion program for over 40 years, with great success.

Today we said goodbye to the big apple and headed for State College, Pennsylvania. We took public transportation, subway to Grand Central, then train to Chappaqua. Actually that's a stop further than where the airplane is parked, but my friend Nora offered to drive us from Chappaqua to West Chester…
