Stary Browar Poznan Reviews
Stary Browar Shopping Mall Oct 06, 2015
Stary Browar shopping mall is housed in a building dating back from 1844. The building was originally home to the Huggerów Brewery. The brewery produced beer until 1980, then mineral water until 1998. In the new millenium it was transformed into the shopping and entertainment mecca.
It's located not so far from the Old Town.
For locals it has been mostly a shopping center but for tourists it is an attractive landmark where the echoes of the past can be still found.
As a shopping experience, it's much the same as any shopping mall. It is a bit complicated to navigate though. It took me a while to figure it out. I’m maybe too used to visiting Arkadia in Warsaw. Stary Browar is a piece of an unique architecture. It was constructed on the site of an old brewery and the style reflects this. It does not look at all like a typical shopping mall. Some of the original bricks have been reused in it. All the elements together create something that delight the eye.
Stary Browar features more than 200 shops, but not only. Some very elegant restaurants can be found here too. Stores vary from the low budget ones like H&M to these of the high-fashion. The building is nicely lit in the night.
To shop, or not to shop? It doesn’t have a meaning. Even if you don't have a will to go shopping, just go and enjoy something different. It is well worth to see how creative modern architecture can be and how good it can reflect tradition and history. Stary Browar is not just for shoppers, believe me.
