Winter Getaway, Frozen Waterfall Mar 22, 2011
I do not know if this is a common appearance but this was the first time that I saw a FROZEN waterfall. It was an amazing experience inlcuding the stalactities formed surrounding the falls and included a small passage to walk behind the fall which glistened green due to the ice formation.

This was a quick 2 hour drive from Chicago which I discovered through a random search for state parks in the vicinity. It also includes a range of trails and an offshore land formation where you can spot the american bald eagles perched on the treetops. There are the visitor binoculars to see the eagles at a distance.

Unfortunately but evidently, the waterfall holds it's charm only during the winter months.
