This is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can get for your dollar. The cost is
$6/person for two first-run movies. Children 5 and under are free. The snack bar is VERY reasonable, with a great menu. You can even get full dinners and grilled foods. Or, you can bring your own food...no problem. The snack bar is clean, and so are the restrooms. The sound, which comes over your car radio is as good as your speakers. They offer concerts, performed by locals, before the first movie on Saturdays during the summer, and they have a nice playground for the kids. It's a great family outing. It's great for dates. I'm so proud of Lubbock for this little piece of nostalgia. You don't see many drive-in theaters anymore. The Stars & Stripes Drive-in Movie Theater is a winner! |

Stars & Stripes Drive-In Sep 01, 2008
Do you remember Drive in Movies, an American institution for many years but now for the most part all but gone and yet there are a few still out there to view “the old fashion way”. Just outside of Lubbock, Texas is Stars & Stripes Drive-in where you can see two movies at the price of $6 per person and children 5 years old and under go free. You drive in pay and park were you want then tune your FM radio station to the proper frequency then watch your movies in the comfort of your car, if you want snacks to small meals there is a snack bar and restrooms.
I have attached three photos taken a few weeks ago on the way back into town.
