Starlite Dance Club Mountain View Reviews
A Real Fun and Friendly Place to Dance - or just learn how! Nov 04, 2010
Yup, it's owned by the same Cheryl Burke who rose to fame in Dancing with the Stars. Well, actually her wealthy mother owns it but it has Cheryl's name all over it for better and more widespread marketing.
More importantly, I found this dance studio to be a wholesome and comfortable alternative to the typical bar scene and is great fun. A couple of my friends were almost brand new at ballroom dancing so we attended the Friday night "For Beginners Only" lesson which anyone can drop in for whether they bring a partner or not. There are plenty of single men and women there so none of us were left as the odd person out. They rotate the lessons on a weekly basis but always offer beginning and intermediate salsa on Friday nights due to its immense popularity in the SF Bay Area - and the world for that matter.
The group classes are approximately $15 and we thought that's more than reasonable considering it also includes admission to the dance party which goes from about 9:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
It doesn't seem to matter whether you're a proficient instructor looking for a fun evening or, like my friends, need to brush up on the cha cha basic, there are plenty of single partners at all skill levels that kept us challenged within the average crowd of some 250 people. The studio is beginner through advanced-friendly for group classes or private lessons.
Not only is the colossal-size dance studio divided into three separate floors for music variety, it's one of the biggest dance studios in Northern California. And unlike many dance spots that only have parties once or twice a week, this one offers dance parties to the public from Thursday through Sunday nights, inclusive.
I've been to various dance studios across the United States and find this one to be alot funner by leaps and bounds - or should I say, spins and dips?
