Stardust Donut Shop Imperial Beach Reviews
No one has donuts like theirs Mar 19, 2014
It's a family business two brothers Ed and Cliff Arnold have been making and selling donuts here since 1967. Ed died in July 2012. And before that, their grandma Kitty Keen sold donuts downtown San Diego, starting in 1929.
Stardust Donut Shop is on state Route 75 just after it splits off from Palm Avenue. The busy highway brings them Imperial Beach, Coronado and Chula Vista customers as well as those from far-flung corners of the county.
It is a short, white counter in the same small, white building with large windows.
The choices these days are glazed, chocolate, cinnamon rolls, old fashioned, buttermilk twists, one with a raspberry filling (89 cents each), a caramel pecan cinnamon roll ($1.49; they only make it Thursday–Saturday) and a coffee ($1.20). Cinnamon rolls, the most popular item on the menu. Each kind tastes homemade and wholesome. Accept Just cash. Arnold doesn't like to break large bills. He will as long as he can but when he runs low on small bills, he makes customers go get change.
