Star Inn Hotel Budapest Centrum Reviews
Nothing special, quite an average hotel - however ideally located” Aug 06, 2012
Just returned from the Star Inn, where we spent 6 nights.Centrally located hotel with a multitude of Bars and Restuarants in the vicinity, walking distance / transport links for the sights and easily reachable to/from the airport by public transport, costing a little over €1 and taking just over 35 mins, (as opposed to over 10 times as much by these rip-off shuttle buses some hotels and private companies run).To take Public transport, take the 200E from the aiport terminal 2 to Kobanya-Kispest, then jump onto the Metro line 3 into the Centre. The hotel is about 5-10 mins walk from Nyugatí station, and 10 minutes bus ride to the Eatern Main station Keleti, 10 mins walk from Arany Janos station (nearest Station to the Basilica)
The holiday didnt start off well after check in and arrival in our room. I found the rooms a bit small, & bit of a tight squeeze in the bathroom too. a few small things upon arrival was that were no paper waste bin in the room, no plug for the sink in the bathroom or small kettle for a cup of coffee/tea. When we reported this to reception, we were laughed at by the man on duty and told 'this is only a 3 star hotel'. I didnt find the employee's attitude particularly funny nor helpful.
* on the 2nd night the internet wasnt available on the whole floor. We were told it would 'perhaps' be fixed the next morning. upon return from sightseeing on the 3rd day it was still not fixed - however to be fair we were offered a room change and rightly so considering Id not slept for 2 nights either.
Room tip: I found the twin rooms located facing the lifts (and the side street the hotel is located on) quite noisy during the night, so I personally wouldnt recommend them; The rooms away from the lifts therefore and overlooking the courtyard were cool because then I could get some sleep!
* Breakfast not really value for money, and no hot options available.

Star Inn hotel (Budapest) - I recommend! Apr 27, 2010
This is my first hotel review here, so I warn you, you may find it not very objective, because I am not a capricious traveller, my main parameters for hotels are location, price including breakfast, cleanliness, private bathroom/shower.
It was a nice surprise to discover such a modern and stylish hotel almost in the downtown for such a hilarious price: € 36 per night for a double room! Even wiith breakfast EUR 9 per person per night, it was € 27 per person per night! (Lower than anywhere else I had stayed before).
Location: a quiet place in the middle between two big transport junctions Oktogon and Nyugati pályaudvar (subway, tram, autobus) (about 10 minutes by walk), or can be reached from bus stations Bajcsy-Zsilinsky út/Podmaniczky utca or Zichy Jenö utca. The Opera is a stone's throw from the hotel. Some dislike the grey wall of the next building and yard seen out of windows, but looking out of hotel windows is not what you come to Budapest for, is it?
The staff is friendly and helpful, english-speaking. Istvan Kiss speaks Russian, which I did not need but that was nice! When we arrived he was busy wth another group of tourists (from Russia as well, by the way), we had to wait for about 15 minutes, as they had not booked rooms in advance, and he apologized for our waiting, and gave us a thick guide-book. Cash and bank cards are accepted for payment. Good range of food for buffet breakfast. The room and the shower room / toilet are clean, there is a hair-drier. Some complain about absence of mini-bar, refrigerator, safe and tea/coffee utensils - none of those was crucial for me. The room's door is locked and unlocked wth a magnet card which has to be used in the elevator too.
I left the hotel with good impressions and if I happen to get to Budapest again I will choose this hotel, for sure.
