Star Hotel Rayong Reviews
Star Hotel Rayong Feb 20, 2013
I decided to explore Rayong and stayed at this hotel before going to Koh Samet island. The hotel located at the main street in Rayong city and the public bus from Bangkok stop not far from the hotel (I have to tell the bus driver to stop in Rayong city). The hotel building is huge and consists of 532 rooms from suite, deluxe, superior to standard rooms all with private ensuite and some with balcony. The hotel room located on two separated wings next to each other. The hotel also owned a large shopping centre and bowling centre located in front of the hotel.
I booked this hotel through booking.com for special deal of THB1,000 per night for single room include buffet breakfast. The lobby is huge and the receptionist is friendly and efficient with the booking, unfortunately the hotel doesn’t have a city map at the time I was staying there, so I have to ask direction to the receptionist. Luckily, Rayong is very small city and easy to explore by foot or other public transport, and it is easy to find public transport or taxi from front of the hotel.
I don’t remember which floor the room was, but the room is very spacious but decorated plainly with twin bed, dresser, old television and small refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities provide in the room. The bathroom is quite modern with glass shower cubicle and I love the huge shower head with good pressure of hot and cold water, and cleaner change towel and toiletries amenities on daily basis.
Buffet breakfast serve in another hotel building from 7 – 10 am, and the selection is huge and very appealing to hunger stomach, from scramble eggs to cook vegetables and meats, different types of juices, and many bread selection and sweet to choice from, it is more Chinese style cooking than Thai food.
The hotel also has a small swimming pool at the back side of the lobby are, and it seems not many people using it as I am the only one swim there. The pool looks clean and the water is cool and refreshing as Rayong is quite hot during the day and night time. There is no pool attendance to get register or get the towel near the pool, so I need to ask the reception for towel before jump to the pool.
There is plenty of restaurants and local eatery nearby from Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Lebanese food, and night market located right opposite the hotel which sells many types of local delicacy, clothing’s, toys and souvenirs. The location of the hotel is good and right at the city centre with many public transportation from small pick up and mini bus to go to Koh Samet pier which takes around 30-40 minutes from the hotel and it is very cheap (don’t remember how much does it cost), however I need to ask the driver the exact amount to avoid getting ripped off. You can hire the minibus to go around the town for a day trip as well.
