Stanton Park Dec 05, 2010
Stanton country park is on the outskirts of Swindon, near the enormous Honda

plant.

You would not necessarily expect to find a lovely country park near an enormous

Honda plant, but the park is attractive and a lovely place for a short walk.

There is a lake, a ranger centre (complete with an interesting display featuring

large model mushrooms and a number of fake snails!) and some nice paths through

the wood.

There is generous parking in the country park car park, but it might be worth

seeing if there is room to park in the grounds of the Stanton House Hotel. I’ve

been there for a hot chocolate, which was lovely, and there are nice bars and

lounges; in a wintery England, close availability of post walk tea and coffee is

a good thing to have! It also has a reputation as being one of the best sushi

restaurants in the UK, but I’ve never eaten there, and has a specialty Japanese

food shop.
