Stansted Vacation Guide
Stansted airport is based 45km north of the centre of London and was saved by no-frill airline Ryanair back in the early 1990's when the former air base looked like it was facing closure and needed finiancial support. Ryanair flew its planes into Stansted to rival Easyjet who flew out of nearby Luton airport and since then its history.
Stansted airport is now London's third major airport after Heathrow and Gatwick and is expanding all the time. Airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, AirBerlin and other less known airlines fly out of here, but is the busy airport terminal (passenger wise) before 0700 in the morning every day. The airport is currently run by BAA (which is now in the process of been sold off - April 2009).
Stansted airport has a train service into London Liverpool Street and Birmingam, Cambridge and nearby Bishop's Stortford, and coaches also connect to places as Wolverhampton, Luton Airport, Norwich, Birmingham, Milton Keyness, and Stevenage. Also National Express and Terravision coaches depart for Victoria, Liverpool St, Stratford, Golders Green and Baker Street in London. Also the airport is on junction 9 off the motorway M11 (London to Cambridge).
Also Stansted is next to a village called Stansted Mountchiffit, which is set in a small valley in the Essex countryside, and is also on the main railway line between Stansted Airport and London.

Yet again, sleep didn’t happen last night as much as I would’ve liked it to. I stayed in the lobby/hang out area at the hostel talking to everyone. I met a couple of people from Georgia, a “mate” from South Africa, and 2 people from Minnesota, one from Hastings and one from the famed Virgin…
