Looking for an overnight adventure with a four year old we came across this site offering glamping pods at a very reasonable price. Given it was the school summer holiday we paid £52 for one night in a pod that sleeps 2 adults and 1 child comfortably or 2 children at a push.

Given a problem with our original booking and choice of date we had to cancel the initial booking, however, the manager of the camp site went above and beyond to accommodate us on another date for the same price.

On arrival we were met by the site manager who showed us to our glamping pod for the night, he'd kindly given us one nearest to the path and portaloos given that we had a four year old with us (this proved invaluable during the night!) He then proceeded to help us with some of our belongings to get us set up in the pod quickly.

The pod itself contained two single beds with mattresses (we had to provide our own sleeping bags/duvets) and obviously we had to provided an inflatable childs bed too. The pod had enough space for a small fold away table that we'd also brought. Outside the pod was a fire pit and also a small BBQ set. Fire and BBQ wood/lighters could be purchased on site for a price of £5 per bundle. There was also a smaller pod on the site which contained a number of outdoor games for the kids, footballs, crickets set, tennis set etc.

The site also had a lodge, which contained a communal socializing room, complete with a number of board games for the children, should the weather prove inclement. There was also a vending machine. The lodge also had two shower units and toilets. A small kitchen was equipped with a fridge/freezer and a microwave. Complimentary coffee/tea and hot chocolate were also available which proved a nice touch - must remember to bring mugs on our next visit.

There is a lake on site and also a camping site adjoined to the pod site.

Pods are insulated and we had no problem with outside traffic noise. However, during autumnal months I would recommend more bedding/hot water bottles.

Toilets on site were exceptionally clean and well maintained.

A great place for and adventure - and for people like me who would not camp in a tent!
