When David and I started looking for a motel in the Stanford, Palo Alto area I saw a review written by a fellow travbuddy, Pavloviandoggy for the Stanford Terrace Inn. We found the motel at the first of May... we paid $119 per night. As we left we stopped by the office and asked to book it from May 10 to the 18th.... It was a little disappointing to find it was $145 per night as the seasons had changed... but we liked it so much we went ahead and booked it anyway. (A decision I am now thinking was brilliant!) The staff here are outstanding. They are acccomodating and eager to please.

I must say that when we first drove up we said UH OH. The outside is not very fancy.... but once we walked into the lobby we could tell this place is an exceptional value. The lobby is also the breakfast area. It is clean and bright and has flowers and is nicely decorated in neutral tuscany looks. It overlooks the pool area. (The pool is a salt water pool....) It has many tables and chairs, lounges and towels available. The second floor above the pool has a small area with tables and bright yellow umbrellas.....so cheery. It was possible to eat breakfast there instead of inside.

Breakfast was quite good. Waffles & syrup, coffee and/or juice. plain yogurt, berry mixture for topping, bagels & cream cheese, english muffins, jelly, breakfast cereals (3 kinds) and milk.. plus apples and bananas. Quite a spread. Coffee and water are available all day. They have a bowl of apples during the day and two kinds of cookies at night.

The rooms are really oversized. We stayed in room 118 with a king bed but decided it was in the shade too much... (this room had a bed and featured a loveseat chair) We decided on a room with two queen beds... it has a small bisto table and two chairs. (the chairs are upholstered and nice.) next to the television is another larger chair.

We stayed at the garden/deck area of the motel: it is built in a rectagle (2 stories) and has a deck garden area with two bubbling fountains. The deck area has one section with loungers, a table and chairs and long bench, a middle section with small bubbling fountains a large square coffee table and long benchs(covered with sherbert orange cushions). The last section has chairs, a bench and plants... All three sections feel very private and peaceful.

This unique motel also has "green" rooms that are hypoallergenic with filtered shower water ... There is also a well equipted exercise room.

David and I stayed on Sunday and Monday then David stayed by himself on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Stanford hospital is very close and very easy to find from the hotel... The University is also very close..and EVEN easier to find than the hospital. I had a proceedure at the hospital and returned to the motel on Thursday afternoon... We are relaxing on the deck right now.... Ahhhhh.... life is good! We will be enjoying the hospitality of the motel until Monday or Tuesday. Things could be worse (LOL) (I could be at work!) .. Sunny, wonderful, fun days to follow :) :)

This place was great. For the cost it was one of the best deals we have had in a long time. Clean, convenient, and the perfect weekday romantic anniversary spot not too far from home. I wasn't expecting much... in fact we just needed a spot to be romantic. Imagine our surprise when the room and hotel really *WAS* romantic. Thanks!

Yummy breakfast too!
