Stamsund Vandrerhjem hostel

From the location (right on the water!) to the amenities and the overall atmosphere this place is tops. It was by far the best place that we stayed on all of the Lofoten Islands. The property is comprised of old fisherman's cabins along a small harbor with a main building housing the dormitory's (separated for men and women), restrooms/showers, laundry and a well equipped kitchen. There is also a lounge/tv room next door. Roar, the host/owner is a wonderful man. My first impression was that he was a grouchy old fisherman but his almost immediate joking and welcoming attitude put that thought right now of my head. He knew all there was to know about Stamsund and the surrounding trails. They also have bikes for hire as well as row boats that are free of use to all guests!

Overall, I give this place two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Just being there you can feel all of the good times that were shared within it's walls and on it's dock. DEFINITELY worth the visit!
