Stadherberg de Mol Delft Reviews
Medieval Theme restaurant Jun 27, 2012
Stadsherberg de Mol, or in English, City inn The Mole.
This is a medieval themed restaurant in Delft. I went there on invitation from someone in honour of his birthday. It's location is right in the centre of the City of Delft. Located in an old building originating in the 1500's.
The place does have an authentic medieval atmosphere. There where no knives or forks, so for a large part you have to use your hands for eating. Maybe there was a spoon for the soup, but I'm not even sure about that. In stead of chairs they use benches, i got used to it pretty quickly, they fit the atmosphere really well, so i didn't mind. Also, there is no electric lighting, they only use candles, contributing a lot to the atmosphere, surprisingly it wasn't dark, and we where able to see what we where doing very well. You can also hire Medieval costumes, but we didn't because we didn't felt it was really necessary.
They have a couple of different 'act's'. We went there on a minstrel night. Meaning there was a singer. He sings old medieval songs, but if you don't understand/speak dutch, this might be less interesting. You can give them a call or look at their website, to see what 'acts' are planned. Be sure to have a reservation, because it is required.
The prices are affected by your menu, as is the case in every restaurant. Considering you have to pay extra for the amusement, the final price might be around €35 per person total, which is the 'cheapest option'. Having to pay about 5 euro's for the minstrel, and another 5 for the costume, taking some drinks at about 2 euro a drink, it could easyly end up costing you around €60. So make sure when you make your reservation, you also inform for the costs.
