St Thomas Church
St Thomas Church Aldona Reviews
St. Thomas Church Aldona (Goa) Feb 22, 2010
Aldona is a small village in Goa which has the best Church well maintained by the villagers. This church was built in 1596 on the banks of the Mapusa river. The broad steps to the church are carved from stone and the church is built of high plateau.
The Church is lavishly decorated by symbolic biblical Paintings and wooden statues with details. In the early days, the statues of the church were decorated with jewelry by villagers. But like most of the Churches, often robbed of these jewels.
This church is not visited by tourist as the entry inside the church is restricted to tourist. It is possible only with prior permission from the parish priest. I managed to get inside the church with some local talk with the church secretary.
Check the pictures for the awe inspiring view of the interiors of this St. Thomas Church
I will try to visit the church again during the day to get more pictures on the exterior of the church.
