St. Stephen's Green Reviews

Feb 23, 2008
Hopefully you will absorb Dublin on foot...and if you do I heartily recommend hoofing to St. Stephen's Green (at the top of Grafton Street) with a packed lunch. Although dimunitive compared to NYC's Central Park, this is an expansive green area nestled right in downtown Dublin and a popular lunch spot for the working class. In addition to colorful flowerbeds you will witness locals sprawled out on the lawn to relax.

The park abounds in tree-lined walks, replete with ponds that harbor a boat load of ducks eager for bread crumbs. There are statutes and memorials of famous Dubliners (including Yeats and Joyce)...and a magnificent bronze rendering of the Three Fates. We enjoyed some splendid music for free at the bandstand in the park. A great place to unwind and mingle with the natives!
