St. James Parish Church Holetown Reviews
Oldest Church in Barbados May 08, 2011
I spent the afternoon visiting St. James Parish Church located in Holetown, St. James and stands of the oldest piece of land on the island of Barbados, known as “God Acre.” St. James Parish Church is where many of the original settlers to Barbados are buried in the church as well as the yard. Construction of the stone church was started in 1680 and completed in 1683, and replaced the wooden house of worship first built by the settlers. The bell with the inscription “God Bless King William 1696” is considered to be the oldest.
If you’re visiting Barbados, St. James Parish Church should not be missed.
