Great hostel, right in the middle of the red light district, with as many coffee shops and prostitutes any one person could possibly need.

Location was spectacular, with a bar, smoking room, and rooftop patio. It doesnt get much better than this if your someone looking for a great place to meet people, party, smoke, have a great time, get a good nights sleep and then start all over again.

Lockers in room, there was a bathroom, and shower in my room, and they were separate so the could be used my different people at the same time which i thought was great.

Overall amazing, i would recommended to anyone who asked, and i will return!

I'm basing my 4 star rating not so much on the location, although the location is great.. right in the red light district, but on the fact that the place is a bit unique. The rooms are each individually themed, there's quite a bit of nightlife taking place at the bar which is in the hostel itself, and there's a backyard where u can sit, smoke, watch tv etc.

The staff were a bit distant, at least to me. I figured this was because at the end of the day they were mainly bartenders, and I didn't find it to be the kind of place where you would meet a lot of other people to travel with. People mainly kept to themselves, but they were friendly nonetheless and hey, everyone has their own experience.

Overall I think it's a cool place to stay in Amsterdam, athough I wouldn't recommend it if it were anywhere else.

Quality hostel right in the heart of amsterdam. Next to dam square, easy to find and staff most helpful, room wasn't ready but not a problem because staff bought us a beer to chill in the bar area and came to get us when the room was ready. Overall good hostel, would stay there again.

Not so bad Oct 18, 2010
Firstly, location-wise, it's just behind the red light district. You can find coffee shops (where you can buy and smoke weed) just next to the hostel. You need not wander too far if your mission in Amsterdam is to smoke and visit the red light district. I also remember that within that same block, there's a place you can go to if you're interested in watching a live show.

Cleanliness is fair. It's a youth hostel so, don't expect that all corners of this place will be spic and span.

There's a bar downstairs which connects to an open area. It's a cool place to meet new people. Food wasn't that fantastic but it's better than the rest of what Amsterdam has to offer. Otherwise, if you think it's that bad, you can settle with fries. They're everywhere around town.

Drinks aren't watered down. Considering that some places in Europe serve drinks diluted with a bit of water. So, for the price of their cocktails, it's fair. Plus, you get a 10% discount in their bar downstairs if you're staying there.

The bunk beds didn't have curtains as opposed to the St. Christopher's Inn in Paris. Although, I must say, the beds are quite comfortable. They also provide towels, soap and shampoo daily(for a hostel, I was really surprised to see this)!

You will definitely hear the music from the club downstairs and if you're unlucky, you may also feel the bass (especially when it's drum & bass night) as it vibrates through the wooden floors.

It would be nice to have a common room but I guess the smoking room inside, the garden room outside and the bar serves that purpose.

Breakfast is actually good. There's quite a number of selection of breads to choose from, a couple of cold meats, milk, juice, yoghurt, cereal and coffee.

Wi-fi is free. You can also rent small laptops for I think 2euros per hour.

Staff are all friendly and the music is just awesome!
