Old Monroe County Courthouse Apr 26, 2008
The Old Monroe County Courthouse is a wonderful link with the historic past of Alabama.
Located in the town square, the museum provides a variety of events and activities through out the year to attract people of all ages and backgrounds and tourist alike.
Monroeville is best known as the home of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Harper Lee and her childhood friend Truman Capote. Each year in May they hold a production a production of “To Kill A Mockingbird” which the courthouse is most famous for. The courthouse was used in the making of the movie by the same name.
The museum inside also houses a rotating collection of artifacts and relics from important periods in Alabama’s history, and also schedules art exhibits on a regular basis.
