A Budding Airline Jun 16, 2012
Flying from New Delhi to Colombo , the capital of Sri Lanka does not offer too many choices. So there's Air India & Sri Lankan airlines . We booked Sri Lankan airlines . The flight is about 3.5 - 4 hrs but the cost of flying to Colombo is more than flying to Bangkok which is 4.5 hrs probably because of just two airlines flying .

We were traveling in large group of 14 people and were booked as a group . Out seats were also pre-booked to be together in the flight . Surprisingly at check in we found out that the seats were all dispersed in the flight . On being questioned the staff did not have any logical answer to the mess , in fact they gave a lame excuse that the flight was overbooked !!! Now whats that got to do with pre-booked seats ??? It took us a good one hour to check in at Delhi airport soughting out the seat mess .

The airplanes from Delhi are Airbuses 320's , the kinds that normally fly domestic routes in India .The airplanes was neat and clean , a bright turquoise fabric on the seats and private screens ( though very small ones ) . Choice of movies was quite limited but then its not a very long flight .

They serve only beer & wine on the flight so no whiskies for whiskey fans . Getting even the second can of beer can be quite a task so it seems they are on heavy cost cutting procedures . The airline crew is just straight faced so don't except any smiles etc . they are just doing there job ! Food is pretty average with just basic stuff , nothing really worth mentioning .

Sri Lankan airlines flies to a lot of destinations across the globe but they really need to up their quality , service , food and entertainment standards to attract international travelers .
