Sri Janakiram Hotels Tirunelveli Reviews
Very Good, Clean and Affortable Hotel Apr 05, 2014
This is a well known hotel for the quality and standards in that region and has very good TripAdvisor ratings.
Tirunelveli is a popular southern city of Tamil Nadu state of Southern India, which is very famous for historical temples, culture and food. As a family trip to that region we booked 2 deluxe a/c rooms and a non-a/c room, of which the deluxe rooms looked good, clean and comfortable. They have a 24hrs check-out policy making it very convenient and economical!
This hotel is located very close to the Tirunelveli Railway station and the main bus stand, and takes only few minutes drive to get to the hotel. Transportation is not at all problem from the station and it's fairly easy and very economical to get a tuk tuk or even a taxi.
The location is not bad, however it seem to be the busiest and congested area surrounded by popular showrooms, hotels, restaurants, sweet stalls, street vendors and what not. Traffic was bad during the peak hours and it was little hard to get in and out the hotel premises by the car.
The hotel has a nicely decorated lobby highlighting South Indian traditions with 24hrs front desk staff to assist guests. Though the check-in process took little bit longer for the paper work, it went trouble free.
The service I can stay was extraordinary, and as soon the check-in was completed, couple of staff helped us with the luggage, elevator, escorted us to the rooms, turned the lights and air conditioner on. They also came back after few minutes to make sure if everything was OK. There were help attendants in each floor, which was quite unusual, as they were there for any help anytime.
The deluxe room that I stayed was little bit cramped for 2 single beds, but had some storage space for luggage, so it wasn't that bad to move around. Interestingly, the hotel offered complimentary wi-fi. Moreover, there were few bed side power outlets for charging phones/laptops, which was very useful for charging more than 1 gadgets at a time. The bed sheets and pillows were reasonably clean and comfortable.
The room had a small window with a curtain, with few amenities such as a flat TV mounted on the wall with many local and few international channels, working air con, thermos flask for hot water (hot water filled on request), coffee table with chairs and big cupboard with hangers.
Surprisingly, the bathroom was very clean, well built and well maintained. Toilet looked very high standard with sanitary spray attached. There was no separator between the toilet and the shower, but it wasn't bad because of the bathroom size, good ventilation and natural light. Bath kit was provided along with bath towels, but no face or hand towels. Though it had a shower head, hot water only flows through the taps below and not on the shower head itself. So, in case hot shower is needed, one has to get used to the Indian style of shower by filling the cold/hot water in the bucket and use the mug for splashing! :)
The big plus about this hotel is the room service and 3 types of restaurants attached - 1 at ground level, 1 at first floor and 1 at rooftop. We only tried room service and ground level few times, and we quite enjoyed both. The room service was very prompt, well delivered by the friendly staff, but slightly expensive than the ground level restaurant. The food was fantastic and pretty cheap compared to other big cities!
Most of the staff around was ready to help with any needs all the times and we did not have any safety concerns at all. They also ask our permission for the housekeeping service while we head out and the cleaning service was tidy!
Overall, I was very much satisfied with the stay and it even exceeded my expectations on the standards. I will definitely recommend this place for any domestic and international travelers for few nights or more!
