Sri Durgiana Temple (Silver Temple) Amritsar Reviews
The silver hindu version of the golden temple Sep 03, 2011
The official name of this temple is the 'Sri Durgiana Temple' but it is also known as the silver temple because of the beautiful silver doors.
The temple is known by the locals of Amritsar and also mentioned in the Lonely Planet. However, you will not see many foreigners here. People might therefore look a bit weird if they see a non-indian there. Don't let that stop you though, as it is not only something you want to see, but also a nice opportunity to find some rest in this really crowded city.
Besides the beautiful temple in the middle of the holy water also the surroundings are nice. You can walk around the holy water and see all the nice statues of the hindu gods on the side and in the water. They are really beautiful and colorful. Mostly you will see the hindu's bathing in the holy water, but it is also just a place where young people hang out. The atmosphere is very calm but also a bit cosy.
Not as impressive as the golden temple, but definitely worth visiting if you're there anyway!
