Awesome Place for a Music Festival Aug 16, 2011
I recently stayed at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for 311 Pow Wow. Pow Wow itself was awesome, but the Music Park itself only enhanced the experience.

The park has a pool, two stages, a cafe, and a store. During events, there are many vendors selling food and alcohol around too. There were also many local vendors selling crafts. The beer was expensive wherever you went- $5 a cup at every tent. We were able to sneak a few beers in at a time, you just have to be a little creative and be friendly to the people at the gate.

The campground itself was also nice. There are campgrounds labeled A-F, and certain campgrounds had water and electricity, while others were for RV's. The camping space was pretty spacious, and for the most part the people who wanted shade found trees to place a tent under. They also did a pretty good job keeping the porter johns clean and stocked, but I'm not sure if a different company works for different events.

The Suwannee River, also known as the "Black River" may look a little scary at first, but was a great play to swim. It runs through the park and was a 30 minute walk (with cooler) from our campgrounds. We were there in August, so the water was warm, but still refreshing. There was also a rope swing at the beach area, and it was a great spot to meet new people. Other attractions included canoeing and kayaking down the river.

The staff was really cool too. The park frequently does music festivals, so I'm not sure if the entire staff works permanently or only certain shows, but the staff we met was very friendly. Even though they had a job to do, they also looked like they were enjoying themselves.

At any rate it was an amazing experience, and I had a great time. I plan on returning to the park for the Black Water Music Festival in September.
