Spencer Seaside Lodging Reviews
Best Hoster EVER Aug 13, 2008
This was by far the best hostel ever! Not because it had great showers or beds, but because the vibe is so chill. Hammocks everywhere, right on the ocean, with a view of the national park.
We met some great people, played music, and sang all night long. The owners are also very nice people. And the rasta aura you may catch a whiff of... most likely coming from the attached upstairs home. They have suicide showers, but hey, at least its hot water - just wear you sandals for grounding. Some of my best Costa Rica memories were while I was here. Highly recommended. |

This is a good place. The rooms are a bit dark, although the one I had was very large. It also had the ubiquitous "suicide shower" and most damning, no mosquito net. However, these are minor inconveniences.
The rooms overlook the sea and on the first floor, a very calming breeze can be enjoyed, sometimes with an accompanying whiff of those cigarettes that the local Rasta´s seem to so enjoy. The bed was great - a proper double with a good mattress. There´s a hammock outside on the verandah and a rash of others in the garden below. These are great for star-gazing between the coconut trees. The room was US$15 per night, which is about par for the course in this part of the world for a separate room. And of course, a wide range of bizarre Internet activities can be accessed here. Part of the That Thin Bit Between Mexico & Colombia travel blog |

I scored a first floor room at the Spencer Seaside Lodge. A quick look at the associated photo of their street advert will show you exactly why I chose it. My new favourite furniture item, the hammock, was also available en masse . More reading, more eating, more drinking. Thank you Cahuita… And... Relax. |
