So today was the day of the "Madrid meet-up!" There wasn't that many other tb's coming to it either then the ones already in the group who were staying at the Pop Hostel. It was Tirso (who lives in Madrid) and then Cameron (a TB from Australia who currently lives/works in Africa) and then JC who is also from Spain. JC and Cameron wouldn't be arriving until later but we had plans to meet up with Tirso at the Bear Statue at 3:30pm. For the earlier portion of the day everyone just decided to do ...

The next morning I got up early (at 8) took a shower and went to the Aquarium. To get there I had to cross the bridge in the harbour. The area overthere was very nice. It had a nice shoppingcentre and it took my quite a while to get across the bridge since it was so pretty there! I took a lot of pictures of the harbour and the boats as u can see. It was still very quiet everywhere because it was early so everything was very peaceful. I sat on the bridge for a while and after that I went to se...

I spent one night in Madrid and cope a bit with Spanish.
I had a wonderful few days travelling over from New Zealand to Spain. Korean air is good value and everything went well. As usual made good friends with my fellow passenger on the way to Madrid a research physicist from a large multi-national with an interest in wine the first 6 hours just flew by as we talked away.
I stayed at high tech madrid hotel near the airport so I can rest a bit bef...

After nearly nine months in Barcelona, I think that my lifestyle has become more Spanish than that of many Spaniards. I spend much of my day basically passing time between meals. Quite often, but not always, I'll eat five meals a day. These are:
1) desayuno (breakfast): This is what I eat after I first get up in the morning (around 8 am). For me, it's usually a cup of yogurt and a small pastry, accompanied by water or juice. I like to walk along the beach in the...

Today's my last day in Madrid. I will be meeting my Spanish friend, David, again. We're heading to the park because even though I told him I had been to the park with Henri two days ago, I never saw any lake (we probably didn't walk further in) and David said "are you sure you went to the park?!" hahahah. Madrid's been great so far. Before i came to Spain, everyone kept telling me not to spend too much time here because "there is nothing much in Madrid". Well i see where they're coming from b...

We got up, had breakfast and checked out of our hostel. I was pissed off with my nights lack of sleep and not looking forward to travelling to Paris. I soon perked up a bit though. We were on our way to Paris today, where we'd spend 3 nights celebrating Loris birthday and Bastille day, and then I was travelling down into Burgundy, to see relatives. It was good bye to Spain.
These 10 days were the best time of travelling I've had this year. I don't know what was the influencing fac...

I can´t find Lauro and the gang! Maybe because I´m not really looking and instead I´m taking advantage of this 1euro an hour internet even though my computer is put in front of the door and if I scoot back a little like 2 feet I will be on the streets. I don´t have phone credits and I did intentionally not put credits on my phone the past two days since I am not a spender really (news!). I didn´t see them in the hostel we´re all be staying at and I wonde...

What a trip! I was lucky this trip was still manageable.I was early at the airport for my trip to Mallorca and still missed my flight!!! My southern TEXAS hospitality came out and I was letting others in front of me so they wouldnt miss the Lyon flight. BAD IDEA!! The crappy airline was short staffed and this is another reason people were missing flights!!!
My plane was sitting at the gate...

In the summer of 2006 I went to the south of Spain near Benidorm. My parents have a 2nd house there in the region of Lliber near a town called Calpe. We rented a car at the airport and drove up to the house wich is situated at the foot of a mountain. Spain is not that far away but the scenery is so different from the scenery in my country. Most travellers will say "I've travelled to Europe" without knowing how different the European countries are from each other. My country is flat and l...

When I looked through the window this morning I saw the blue spotless sky again: Viva Madrid! We left early for breakfast, which we picknicked at the square in front of the Almudena and the Palacio Real. My father turned out to be sick from the worthless diner we had last night, and didn't even finished the walk to the palace. That's what you get with those cheap restaurants... it wasn't a good idea of him to finish my melocoton anyway. My mother and I visited the Palacio Real on our own, and ...
