Southern Sun Newland Hotel Cape Town

I've stayed here on all my business trips to Cape Town but it's not until this last trip that I thought to review this place. It was a sharp contrast between the Riverside and landing the next day at the Southern Sun - unfair perhaps - but here it is.

The parking area is currently under construction but doesn't cause a real hassle with entering the premises and finding a spot to park - the real irritation is the noise that is going on right outside your window.

In an attempt to be objective, I must admit that this has always been a comfortable place to stay, nicely decorated in a modern theme with lovely artworks, the hotel offers what any hotel should have but the biggest plus for it is the location.
Perfectly located with the Cape Town CBD (and Long street) only 15 minutes away.

The room has an wonderfully enormous bed with fantastic covers that make you want to creep in and never get out. The bathroom is standard with a bath and shower and the view of the mountain is a big bonus.

The cafe is pricey and more so if you order room service but the food is really good. It also offers access to the Famous Butcher's Grill from the reception area.
Breakfast is buffet styled with a choice between Continental and Hot breakfast but with a sharp contrast in price. The hot breakfast will cost you almost double - all edible but nothing fantastic.

The people are friendly and the service is alright - unfortunately for this hotel on this occasion, I had just come from the Riverside that had blown me away on the luxury, service and affordability.

All that said, I would recommend it for a comfortable and centrally located place to stay when in Cape Town.
