I work for road construction project in Sri Lanka, when I need to go to another side of the river. I need to cross a small river near Bentota (Actually, the river name is of course Bentota river). This is the first time in which I use this barge to cross. I use barge before but it is much bigger than this. Our truck is turned in to small alley which I was assured that this is the entrance of the barge port.
At first, I did not think much of it because I thought it would be similar to barge ...

One Night in Weligama
Above me was a cocoanut palm crowns dark silhouetteLike a
blackened starburst, with edges frayed
And rippling in the evening breeze,
Framed by the darkness of an angry monsoon sky,
Where distant clouds hurried toward the hills
Like iron towards a magnet.
Behind them stars were bright,
But their light, was interrupted by the movement of the clouds,
Betwixt them and me.
Closer was the lime green light of fi...

Sigiriya is an archeological site in Central Sri Lanka. It contains the ruins of an ancient palace complex, built during the reign of King Kasyapa (477 – 495 AD). It is one of the seven world heritage sites in Sri Lanka.
Sigiriya rock is the hardened magma plug from an extinct and long-eroded volcano. It stands high above the surrounding plain, visible for miles in all directions. The rock rests on a steep mound that rises abruptly from the flat plain surrounding it. The rock it...

It was a strange start to my birthday: waking up on a bench in the arrivals hall in Colombo airport, where we'd stopped to get around four hours' sleep before the first bus of the morning. The flight from Dhaka was with Thai airways via Bangkok, and so we'd got into Colombo in the early hours of the morning. We were pleased to find, on waking up, that our bags hadn't been stolen, and we headed off to find a bus into town.
There was a bus just leaving and we managed to squeeze on. In spite of...

Over the past couple of years I have travelled a lot and I have taken many pictures from all over the world. As I do not have time to write blogs I decided to post a selected range of pictures here. up-date will be done not regurarly but from time to time. Please note some pictures have not the best quality as older (1997 - 2000)ones are basically scanned negatives. Should I mixed up any place or so please let me know. Looking forward to any comment or hint. Have fun and enjoy!

After a few restful days in Colombo, Claire and I headed down to the beaches in the south for a few (more) days of R&R. We hired a driver to take us around for 3 days at $50 a day. Although Nihal attested to speaking English, he didn't seem to understand the times we asked him to meet us but it was all good, because we were on a very loose schedule. Unawatuna Beach is crescent-shaped bay with resorts and hostels dotting the shoreline. The whole area has a really ch...
