Southend on Sea Vacation Guide
Southend-on-Sea is a part of Essex down in the South East of England. Its main claim to fame is that it is home to the world’s longest pier extending into the sea at a whopping 1.34 miles!!! (I think that’s still right!). I wouldn’t really say it’s a “must see” place as the truth is you’d probably be disappointed if you’re over the age of 12! There’s an amusement park called Adventure Island, and although I’m over the age of 12 I admit to enjoying what it has to offer on the odd occasion with a FUN group of friends! There is a huge stretch of arcades running along the sea front and also a Quasar arena which is pretty good fun and a long stretch of beach of course, a great place for a BBQ :-)
So during the day its family orientated, but when night falls, that’s a different story!!!! The teens come out, the cars come out, the music blares and the cruising begins! And when I say cruising I mean cruising – speed bumps have been installed all the way along the sea front so you can get to about 15 mph before hitting the breaks again, haha! Some of the cars admittedly do look really cool. If gambling is your thing there is a casino right on the front - penguin suits at the ready!
To sum up, although it’s not the prettiest sea side town in the world it makes an interesting day out and I should mention you can get the best fish and chips there and Southend-on-Sea is home to the Pearl Dragon, one of the best Chinese restaurants in Essex.

Pinching Lauro's naming Blogs after songs idea, this is the general dumping ground for the things that I did before I started blogging properly. The dates will be appropriate, the stories will be vague, and the supporting cast will be a little embarrassed about their dress sense. Such is life.

I have a lot of home towns, and several towns I would love to adopt. I also don't have a great attention span for just sitting indoors on the weekends. This Blog is about all the places I've been to since I got back from the Netherlands, the weekends with friends, and the nights out along the way.

Southend on Sea is about 30 miles east of London in the UK, and on the Thames Estary (which leads out to the North Sea). The town is known for being a 'Londoner's' day out, and the in-famous street racers by young men showing off to their girls in clap out cars on the seafront on a Saturday night! …
