South Woodham Ferrers is a sleepy commuter dorm town in Essex, to the North of London. Although there has been a small settlement here for longer, most of the town was built in the 1980s and 1990s. It is home to a butterfly and small animal farm called Tropical Wings, a swimming pool, and a stretch of Marsh where there were mediaval salt pans (none of which are visible today). There is also a train station, and what is reputed to be one of England's first purpose built town centre ASDA supermarkets.
