South West Pinnacle Dive Site Koh Tao Reviews
Great all round dive. Aug 01, 2006
South West pinnacle ranges in depth from 5m to 30m and is suitable for all levels, as a scuba instructor here I sometimes take students here to complete their open water course and its a perfect site to visit during your advanced training.
Whalesharks are seasonal visitors to this site between March and May and then again sometimes in Sept and October. I saw my first ever whaleshark here so it will always have a special place in my heart.
The site itself is like a huge underwater hill with many smaller pinnacles leading away into deeper water. There is acutally a 'secret pinnacle' and if the conditions are right, your air consumption is good and you dont mind swimming over sand a litle way then you will probably get it to yourself. Ask your guide if he or she knows the way and if the conditions are ok ....
There is a huge amount of life here and its an excellent place to spot scorpian fish - take it slowly and really look and you should be rewarded by viewing this camoflaged critter.
Amenomes, morays and juvenile barracuda are amongst the list of things that you should see along with the notorious titan trigger fish.
