South Water Cayes Vacation Guide

South Water Cayes (pronounced Keys) are part of a group of small islands off the shores of Dangriga, Belize. The water is shallow (approx. 5 feet at the most around the cayes), clear, and full of oceanlife. These Cayes are dominated by coral reefs, and underwater life who take shelter in these reefs. Not too far from the South Water Cayes is the second largest Barrier Reef in the world, where the shallow water abruptly ends, and makes way for the deep blue sea.
Always hot in these parts of Belize, downpours are rare, however, hurricanes do pass by.
Many of the cayes are inhabited by a small population of people, and ready for tourists any time of the day. These waters are great for snorkeling, but not for swimming for leisure because of the jelly fish and very low waters.
