South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa Sep 08, 2009
The South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa is conveniently located near the McCarran International Airport and just a few minutes away from the Las Vegas strip. The rooms were really nice and very affordable! I had a deluxe room with a king size bed that ran about $90USD per night.
The hotel offers many amenities to include a bowling alley, multiple conference rooms, a convenient store, a few swimming pools, a spa and a fitness center. I was there for a conference so I got to see the conference rooms more than anything else. They’re big and very spacious! A little chilly but I’m sure there was a thermostat somewhere. When I wasn’t at a meeting, I was gambling! Very nice casino! Great Blackjack tables! There are several restaurants in the hotel. I ate at the Coronado Café a lot. The food is alright… it’s the type of stuff you’d find on a Waffle House menu but they also offer Chinese food. They’re open 24/7 so it’s very convenient in that you can get some food during those late nights of gambling. Another thing I like about this restaurant is that everyone who works there has a name tag. I was pretty toasted most of the time and my memory isn’t that great when I’m toasted so the name tags were a definite plus during conversation! I don’t like forgetting names! The swimming pools were great! There are posted hours of operation but I don’t think the hotel security enforces them. I went outside for a break from gambling at around midnight and there were people swimming and playing in the pools. It’s pretty cool walking out to the pool deck at night. If I walked out there not knowing what time it was, I would think that the sun was just about to go down. It’s very lighted out there! Maybe it was the Jack… The fitness center has some free weights up to about 40lbs, treadmills, ellipticals and cable machines. There’s a small fee for gym access… I think it was about $10USD per day. You can pay for access at the front desk or at the spa. |
