People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Engin (Turkey), Joon (South Korea)
Unfortunately my flight from Jeju-do arrived into Incheon airport, so i was still left with a fair distance to reach Insadong. I checked with the airport information desk about the new subway line that i heard had been built and was pleased to hear that i could catch this to Gimpo Airport and from here take the normal metro all the way to the station nearest to Beewon Guesthouse. What surprised me ...

These are various pictures I took while we were driving around the city, either on the Seoul City Bus Tour or on our trip up to the DMZ.
Seoul Skies
First and foremost, you can't help but notice that you can hardly see anywhere in Seoul! I wondered if it was fog, pollution, or what. I thought at night it would clear some and we'd have a better view from our room but no such luck. You can see almost all my photos look grainy - it's not a bad camera, just really hard to see...

Today was the day I was finally able to get to the US Embassy to request additional passport pages. It feels good to get things done. I told school I'd be about 2 hours late, and around 8:30 left my apartment for the long journey to the embassy. As I was leaving my apartment, I was in high high spirits. The weather was beyond perfect -- glorious sunshine, a lovely breeze, warm and cleeeear (a rarity in Seoul) ... I was jamming out to my iPod with all good songs coming onto shuffle (another ra...

The day I left NYC for South Korea was filled with activities. I worked a 12-hour shift the night before. And when I reached home, I used my sleeping time to clean my apartment, do laundry, and finish packing. Then at 4pm, I left for classes. I had two classes that night from 455 until 915pm. Needless to say, it was torture. I have been up for 28 hours. As soon as my class ended, I rushed back to my place and made sure I had everything and made sure my apartment in order as...

I arrived at Incheon around 7pm and took one of those organized buses into the city. I had just spent the last two weeks traveling through China and I was a little burnt by this point, so I hadn't done any homework beforehand. I realized I had no clue where I was being taken. I randomly picked a youth hostel from my rough guide and showed the driver. Just to illustrate how courteous the Korean people are, the driver, who didn't know where my hostel was, pulled the bus over to take a better lo...

Hello guys! I've just came back from Seoul. As always - I don't have free time (see: trip to Stockholm), so I'm just uploading photos. Korea was GREAT:) [learning, eating, drinking, singing, not sleeping;) sightseeing and having fun - wonderful time]. Hope to go back there as soon as possible...

The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a 2-1/2 mile wide strip of land, barren of humans and machines, that serves as a buffer between North and South Korea. It was established in 1953 after a cease fire agreement that effectively ended three years of bloody conflict that took over 3 million lives. It is the most heavily fortified border in the world, and a peace treaty was never signed... so the two countries are technically still at war. And we went there on a tour bus! We were lucky to sec...

These last few days have been a little strange.. People I have lived with four months or so have been dispersing to all parts of the globe.. Most I will probably never see again.. Some I may, we'll have to see what happens.Last night was Mike Oh's birthday, but it was a little depressing because it was effectively the last time we would be all together - in all seriousness. There was lots of talk and a bit of drinking - more drinking by others than myself because I'm a sensible young man thes...

Journey (Gudny) recently received an award and I had gone in to see her photos. She has so many great shots from her travels I had to smile and comment on several. One caught my eye and I instinctively knew that I had to work on it. You know how I am about symmetry.
So I got permission, downloaded the picture and began working on it. The tourists were easily persuaded to leave the palace by offers of chocolate just one block away. But the guards were uns...

Where hell has the time gone? What happened? After being here for three months, you'd think that I would be able to find something to write about. The fact is, I really don't know how to retrace what I've expierenced the last couple of months, so I will list a few things that stand out in my head for one reason or another.
I'm a lousy updater, yikes.

After waking up at 6:30 am, riding the subway for 30 minutes, catching a train for another hour ride, followed by a 30 minute cab ride, I finally arrived at the Daejeon Dog Shelter - a rather scrappy, but very loving, shelter brimming with about 90 dogs run by Mrs. Jung.

The street leading up to Ewha Women’s University seemed the most feminine street in all of Seoul. It was lined with boutiques, cafes and tea shops, shoe stores, beauty salons, a Body Shop and its Korean counterparts. Going up to the university itself, which was on top of a hill, we were met by phalanxes of Korean girls coming from class, striding purposefully down the street. Their heels drummed down the pavement and random wooden boards (road works were ongoing). Sin...

OMG...can't believe the day was finally here. I was in South Korea, getting ready to head to the show. We had done a city tour and ended up much longer than planned and only had 1/2 hour to get ready for the show before we needed to catch a cab. And since our tickets were at will call, we needed to get there even earlier as I didn't want to brave long lines and miss one single second of the concert! We rushed back and I took the fastest shower in history (in the a...
