South Coast Backpackers Feb 07, 2018
South Coast Backpackers or as they also call it, Diani Beach Backpackers, is located on the end of the official Diani. That is not much of the issue because tuk-tuk takes you all the way around the coastal road for only 50c, which is such a welcoming surprise considering Nairobi… Diani Beach has one main road that connects the highway and coastal road and that is considered a center. Hostel is 6km away from there.

Beach is some 400m from the hostel and it has some of the finest white sand I have experienced. Pure powder…

Hostel is in in the villa, surrounded with the high wall and beautiful garden. Everything has sense and it is made with lots of taste. Main building hosts some rooms, but they are mostly in the wooden houses around the property. All is very clean and well maintained. Main area of hang out features beautiful pool and few razed sofas that surround the pool. Actually there is so many places to relax that I don’t even know where to start… and most of it is so comfortable that you have just to sit and fall asleep… Hidden deeper in the garden there is large three bed wide area, razed from the ground and nicely covered, my favorite of all. You can also camp on the grass if you are into that.

My dorm is large circular local building that has large baobab tree growing through the middle and 12 bunk beds that surround it. Monkeys come sometimes through the roof openings, so don’t leave food if you don’t want to lose it… Bathrooms are spotless but maybe there is not enough of them when the hostel is full. Also there were some designer bathrooms in the building. Reception hosts the bar and I love their system of making you sign for everything you get and then in the end of your stay you pay for it. Kitchen is working all day long and you can order variety of food for very fair prices. They also have deals for longer stays and you will be staying longer for sure heheheh

On the road there are few shopping centers and markets so you can get things you need but there are also some restaurants here and there. I really liked one on the beach called Bidi Badu.

WiFi in hostel is pretty good and they have strong lockers behind the reception. Security is perfect aside of stray monkeys going for whatever. It is probably one of the best organized hostels that I have been to. Warmly recommended.
