I didn`t know what to expect Jan 11, 2010
I am not sure what to expect from an Aquarium, for I`ve never been in one. But I can imagine a place more entertaining. I liked the idea. The information they provided on the animals was decent. But I would have been more satisfied with more species, and more interactive things to do for adults as well as kids. So I`d say it was okay, but the adult entrance fee was a little bit overpriced in my opinion.

not a whole lot to look at May 15, 2008
They were having something on the Titanic and just wasn't much to look at. Petting the water animals was awsome!

Learning about South Carolina marine life Apr 10, 2006
The South Carolina Aquarium is located at Charleston Harbor on the Cooper River. It's very convenient to the historic district and next door to the Fort Sumter visitor center.

The focus of the aquarium is the South Carolina watershed and the fish, animals, and birds living in it. The second floors details each region and ecosystem: mountain, piedmont, saltmarsh, coast, and ocean. Lakes, rivers, and waterfalls lead to the sea, each forming a different habitat. The main attraction in the aquarium is the two-story Great Ocean Tank filled with sea creatures found off the South Carolina coast. Many, like the Nurse Shark, seem to sense your presence and will follow you around! The Touch Tank gives visitors a chance to pick up many of the sea creatures. It's especially popular with children.

There are excellent view of the Cooper River, the Ravenal Bridge, and Charleston Harbor from the second floor deck. Admission is $17.95.
