South Bay Campground Dec 04, 2008
This is one of the eastermost campgrounds in the United States, in Lubec, Maine near Quoddy Head State Park. It a good sized campground with secluded sites, next to tidal inlets...this area has some of the biggest tide differentials in the world! At low tide, I was able to walk on rocks that were 20 feet underwater at high tide. Each site has a picnic table and fire rings, and not too close to the neighbors. Very dark at night... no light pollution! They have other amenities, like a pool and camp store, bags of ice and firewood for sale. This camp is not far from Campobello Island, just over the line in Canada, where President Franklin D Roosevelt had a summer home. Don't forget your passport, if you want to visit though- you need on now for entering back into the US from Canada!
