South Bank Reviews
South Bank beach in Brisbane Apr 12, 2008
After just spending a Sunday afternoon here I felt compelled to write a review on this amazing place. It is located across the river from the city center of Brisbane, very accesible if not by train you can just walk across the bridge to get there. If you've never heard of it, it is a public man made beach constructed on the Brisbane river. Its free to swim in as well. There were heaps of people there today, as one would expect if you went there on a sunny sunday avo. It is a really cool place to go for anyone. There are heaps of restaurants and ice cream shops around as well as markets that sell a variety of things, although I've heard the markets are only on the weekends. There is also a big amphitheater there that has many shows and apparently dance classes at 6:30 and free dances at 7:30? Its the best part of Brisbane in my opinion and something that every visitor to the city should check out, my regret is not going there sooner as I leave Brissy in 2 days!!

The next day was when the fun really began; we had decided on a easy going itinery including exploring the South Bank and shopping at Queen street mall, but first and foremost on the agenda was taking full advantage of the hotel amenities. The swimming pool and spa pool was on the 4 th floor of the building,
so it was literally… brisbane |

I also
spent a day at South Bank on the south side of the Brisbane River opposite the city. This area was
used in 1988 for the World Expo held in Brisbane and since then the sight was
redeveloped into park lands with restaurants, shops and landscaped gardens,
which also includes… A few more days in Brisbane |

The banks of the river are fully covered by mangroves and lots of pedestrian and cyclist lanes run along them. In the South Bank Park there’s also a public swimming pool with a sandy beach where I go running and swimming every morning. And everything… Finally in Brisbane. |
