The River City Jul 10, 2010
The Brisbane River, one of Queensland's best kept secrets. There's actually quite a lot you can do on and around the Brisbane river - and for next to very little money at all! So, for the money thrifty traveller, this is a must do.

One of the best ways to get around is to purchase a full-day roaming ticket on one of Brisbane's many CityCat ferries. For around $10 you pretty much have your travel for the day sorted. Take the ferry all the way up the river to the University of QLD, hop off and explore the wonderful grounds of QLD's best Uni. They even have nature walks and parks to just sit in and feed the ducks and birds. Then, head back down the river and get off at the Regatta stop, and explore the famous shops at Park Road, Milton - there are some bargains here & great coffee. Then head back down to SouthBank Parklands and explore around. You can go for a swim pretty much all year round in Australia's only CBD city to have a beach! Yep, you heard it here...a beach in the heart of the city. There are museums and Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) where entry is free to most exhibits. All of this, and you still only shelled out about ten bucks ($10). I would walk the next bit and stretch the legs - so take the Energex arbor walk around to the Kangaroo Point cliffs where you can just sit & walk the world & people go by. the rock climbers as they go up and down the steep cliffs.

Your next stop is over into the city itself and get off at the Riverside stop and if you plan ahead, make sure you time it for when the Sunday markets are on and snap yourself a bargain or two.

Well, there you go. A very quick wrap for the Brisbane river and some of the sights and activities. Oh.....I nearly forgot - if you're keen, you can even hire a canoe / kayak and quietly skirt around the edges of the river. Just watch out for those CityCats!! :-)

OK, enjoy the photos. These are all my own as I'm an avid photographer and love to snap places and things.

Very cool Aug 02, 2010
After sleeping for 24 hours or so, I decided to get out there and discover my first little bit of Australia. It was a gorgeous day, although it was still winter it was a little cold, but once you were in the sun it was scorching. The walk from where I was staying wasn’t very long, but there were a few things to look at.

I didn’t stay in South Bank for very long, but I did do the “rainforest walk”, I walked past the Brisbane Eye, and enjoyed people watching from the boardwalk, along with ferry watching. It’s definitely a much see for an afternoon or late morning stroll. It is very beautiful.

There’s also loads of cafes and bars around that you can grab a coffee or beer at and enjoy the sights. Don’t miss this attraction in Brissy.

South Bank beach in Brisbane Apr 12, 2008
After just spending a Sunday afternoon here I felt compelled to write a review on this amazing place. It is located across the river from the city center of Brisbane, very accesible if not by train you can just walk across the bridge to get there. If you've never heard of it, it is a public man made beach constructed on the Brisbane river. Its free to swim in as well. There were heaps of people there today, as one would expect if you went there on a sunny sunday avo. It is a really cool place to go for anyone. There are heaps of restaurants and ice cream shops around as well as markets that sell a variety of things, although I've heard the markets are only on the weekends. There is also a big amphitheater there that has many shows and apparently dance classes at 6:30 and free dances at 7:30? Its the best part of Brisbane in my opinion and something that every visitor to the city should check out, my regret is not going there sooner as I leave Brissy in 2 days!!
