First Adelaide, then who knows!
posted by:
Apr 07, 2008
I figured I'd better write one of these things as everyone seems to be doing it! First off, I've been in Adelaide for spot on 2 months so farand am heading over to Melbourne to meet a mate of mine from England which should be cool! Ive booked myself into Cooee Backpackers on St Kilda which is apparently the place to be, really modern and at $28 a night not too expensive. I've been told Melbourne is very "cosmopolitan" and I'm not sure if thats me but it will be good to meet up with a friend, ...

The Nullabor
posted by:
Sep 21, 2005 - Oct 01, 2005
As I woke up we were just entering the Nullabor plain; An empty expanse that stretches across the southern flank of Australia, it is a harsh, harsh looking place that I wouldn't like to get stuck in! The heat was searing above the ground. It was like when tarmac gets too hot and you see something like a mirage. Having said that, every time I looked up from my book I managed to see some kind of animal! I saw brumbies (wild horses), camels, cows, eagles, and a dingo by himself. What's real...

A stupid start...

I haven't updated this blog in a long time.  Not much exciting was going on as I was just working in Melbourne.  BUT, about a month ago I decided it was time to pack up and travel again.  I purchased a rail pass to discover more of Australia. First stop: Adelaide.  My train was due to depart at 7 am and I had to get there about 6:30 just to be sure.  I had this AMAZING idea that I should spend my last night in Melbourne (last night for a while at least) just partying...

Ah vacation again!
posted by:
Jul 15, 2006 - May 09, 2007
Hello everybody, Boxing day has been fairly uneventful.  I am really happy to finally feel like I am on vacation again.  It is wonderful! I will just recap the last few days for those who are interested.  Christmas Eve, we arrived back in Melbourne at about 3pm and I did tonnes of running around getting things for my trip, last minute gifts and ingredients for my baking.  I stayed up late making Poppy Cock for the Healy's (it was alright, nowhere near as good as mom's bu...

Cambodia, Bangkok, Perth and Adelaide
posted by:
Jan 16, 2007 - Jun 16, 2007
Well, we've managed to escape from weasel-based epicurean delights, and are now firmly ensconced "down under". Since I last wrote, we covered four countries in three days - Siem Reap in Cambodia to Bangkok to Singapore to Perth. Ah, the beauties of budget travel. I vaguely recall raving about Siem Reap in my last missive. But that was all before seeing the sunrise at Angkor Wat, which was, frankly, breathtakingly beautiful. The temple was built in around 1200, and is enormous. There is a 200m...
