A little adventure maybe, a week in Colombia

I´m really excited about this city.  So far everything has been a lot of fun and all the people that I have met have been really cool.  The city is beautiful and is very green for a big city.  I have heard that this city grew slowly which allowed it to retain its charm while still being the capital of the country.  I wandered around the city today and explored

As I said up there in the summary, I'm a dashingly handsome 3yr old Teddy Bear called Paddy (short for Patrick - but I'm actually quite tall - over 20cms!) from Scoil Cnoc na Naomh, a primary school in Doire Chonaire, Gort an Choirce, Dhún na nGall (Donegal in Ireland). I'm being sort of 'bear-napped' by this PaulKernan guy who is taking me on his travels to Spain and Colombia. I've seen lots of the world already, been to Disney World Paris, Australia, USA, Scotland and England but this is ...

WHERE MUSIC AND PASSION ARE ALWAYS IN FASHION I arrived in Rio at Noon which gave me about 11 more hours to kill in Brasil.  Where to?  Copacabana, of course.  I had hoped to meet up with couchsurfers Antonio or Cecilia, but that did not work out.  I never did get my cell phone working there.  As it turned out, it was a nice day to just kick back on your backpack on the beach.  I would say the air temperature was about mid 70s and there was a slightly warm breez...

Adventures in Colombia - Cartagena, Colombia
posted by:

Colombia, the first country to be visited on our South American tour, and perhaps the most dangerous . . . scared for us yet?!! Nah! For sure, Colombia has been given lots of pretty bad publicity, and so has a very negative rep . . . the drugs, the FARC, the kidnappings . . . But hey, on a positive note, it's also home to the BEST coffee in the world! ;) Is that all?! Of course not! And that's what we intend on discovering during our time here. First stop, Cartagena, which is located al...

And here we are again, back in the beautiful wonderful amazing city that is Buenos Aires. We managed to time our 2-night visit on the weekend so we enjoyed having a meander around the hippie market in La Boca on Saturday and then the San Telmo Sunday market. Very different to 10 months ago in terms of weather as it is now slap bang in the middle of the winter and it is FREEZING!!!!! It snowed here a few weeks ago, the first time in some 90 years!! La Boca is a fascinating area...

Iquitos - de la selva su encanto...

I went to Iquitos in order to attend to a business course. Anyway, I could spend a free Sunday just before going back home. My flight was scheduled at 9am, but a friend who lives there offered to show me around Iquitos. He asked me, what are you gonna do in Lima? Mmm, he was right. I had no plans. So I decided to stay and enjoy a nice day. We didn´t have much time, but tried to do our best. Iquitos is a very warm city, well it´s in the rainforest. We visited Quistococha a park with a beaut...

First day in South America
posted by:

Very cultural day today!  We took a taxi to the Museo Rafael Larco, a private museum with an outstanding collection of Peruvian antiquities - lots of gold pieces and a massive collection of ceramics from the various Peruvian cultures.  This museum also has good English explanations in the main collection, although none in the temporary exhibition.  The most unusual section here is the erotic collection - two rooms of rather explicit depictions of the sexual practices of the anc...

Quito
posted by:
Sep 27, 2006 - Feb 27, 2007
We´ve finally made our way to Quito, Ecuador after a fab three and a half months in Central America. We love this city! It has gorgeous colonial buildings and cobblestone streets, AND all the comforts of a capital city. We made our way to Mitad  del Mundo (centre of the world) to get all the obligatory cheesy photos at the equator... what is hilarious though, is that the huge monument, and  kinda lame 'theme park´that marks the spot is 200+ metres off the actual equator! In...

In La Quiaca should be the offer of connection to BA better. So in Tarija I spent one day with waiting for next bus and in the night I continued to ...

First Few Days In Lima
posted by:
Feb 11, 2008 - Jul 06, 2008
I have to confess, I almost don't recognize the city, seeing it in the middle of summer.  My previous experiences of a gray, polluted, humid, depressing urban jungle are happily things of the Lima winter only.  Every day it's been in the 70s with brilliant sunlight, exuberant flowers and vegetation (although still artificially watered...rainfall in Lima is nil all year round), and the clear skies means the pollution and smog are able to disperse and blow away on the breezes that coo...

Buenos Aires - You Know Youre Fabulous!

I had the privilege of going to the fabulous city of Buenos Aires this summer.  This had been both a dream spot for both me and my dear friend Noah.  We had narrowed it down to three destinations: Germany, Norway and Argentina.  Having recently gone to Spain, we thought maybe it would be best to go somewhere other than Europe, that and Norway was very expensive at the time.  Germany was cheaper, but we wanted to add another continent to our list.  Consider it done, Bu...

Bogota Blog

After much planning and saving, I've finally made the leap across the atlantic and landed in beautiful Bogota. I chose the Madrid route so I could get a glimpse of that wonderful city en-route. The flight was 11 hours of the usual excitement mixed with stiff neck, itchy legs and nodding off to sleep. The flight attendants were competent but seemed to prefer chatting amongst themselves in the galley rather than attending... still I understand Iberia staff are famous for this skill (and not the...
