Well here I am at the Lima airport after 24 hours of travel so far.
Yesterday after I had packed everything into my brand new pack ordered online from Mountain Equipment Co-op, I put the damn thing on on my way out the door and... oh crap it was sooooo uncomfortable! Really badly designed I must say. It was the MEC Walkabout Travel Pack and I strongly do not recommend it!! So Karen (who was also visiting us in Kelowna at the time) bought me the bestest present ever of a new Asolo Odess...

I'm ready(estoy lista). I can feel that it's time for me to come home. I have definitely enjoyed my time spent here, but I'm ready to see some familiar faces. I think that for my first trip abroad that this was the perfect length. I just got used to everything. I know where I am, what I like here, where I like to go and do, and I feel like I got a taste for the culture. I'd like to stay longer to learn more, but I'll save that for a return trip ;). I think I could have done things differently...

Let's see, I moved in to the residence on the 4th, and it is now the what 19th. Well I have done alot in that time, mainly a lot of drinking...but it was all necessary to do. I have a wonderful roommate, her name is Elise and she's from Tennessee...actually there are quite a few people from my program from the South, it's very interesting. But sometimes I get confused as to the things they talk about because we don't have that over in San Diego. Oh well though! Okay then, the 4th I moved in t...

The views flying into Santiago were stunning, not that you could see Santiago, it was covered under a really low cloud base. Rising through the clouds though was the most beautiful view of the Andes all big and snow covered and shiny in the sunshine.Having arrived at the airport and picked up my bags, feeling like a bit of a space cadet having not managed to sleep on the flight, I wandered through customs in a bit of a daze only to get pulled to one side by a very stern police lady demanding ...

Suriname was formerly known as Nederlands Guyana or Dutch Guiana. Suriname is situated between French Guiana to the east and Guyana to the west. The southern border is shared with Brazil and the northern border is the Atlantic coast.

Hiya all, Well here i am in Santiago, smog capital of Chile. The smog is so thick you can only really see about 5 blocks. Santiago is right next to the Andes mountains to the west, (which you can just make out some of the top outline of it in the above photo, if you are lucky) and has another set of smaller mountains to the east, so all the clouds, fog & smog get trapped there. The flight into Santigo was quite interesting, just seeing a few peaks of the Andes poking above the sea ...

Tomorrow we are leaving for a new adventure, one that I am honestly very excited about. We are leaving for Florianopolis Brazil which from what I have gathered so far is a much slower-paced city in Southern Brazil. It is an island off the southern coast of Brazil, and is the capital of Santa Caterina. Although in Atlanta I consider myself a "city girl" I have come to the conclusion that I am not as much of a big city girl as I thought. I have decided that to conisder yourself a "city person" ...

¡Latacunga Latacunga!
This is what the guy who hangs off the bus yells as we take off from Quito. We pick up a bunch of people along the 2 hour ride, along with the many people who come on the bus for a couple minutes to try to sell ice cream and fresh potato chips. Pretty crazy place.
So, Phil´s friend John has been living in Lata for the last two years basically teaching English, and it was really great to meet up with him. He showed us around, and cooked us an amazing vegetarian ...

Doing my final thesis in Journalism in the spring, I was really looking forward to a nice, relaxing vacation in exotic Brazil. I had never been to South America before, but a buddy of a buddy was working there, so a my good friend Dennis and I decided to go for a visit with a couple of more friends arriving later. It turned out to be quite adventurous, fun and educational, but not the least bit relaxing.
Maybe due to my hard schedule, I caught something the first day we got there. I lat...

Actually this is not a travel blog because I'm going to tell how my hometown looks like.
If you're coming to Sao Bernardo you will find a big city that looks like a smaller town, not that country side ones of course.
Sao Bernardo is 20 minutes driving from Sao Paulo downtown and 30 minutes driving from the beaches, like Santos.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you're looking for tips and advise.
Cheers to everyone :)

This place was amazing. Unlike any place I've ever seen before. A short drive from San Pedro de Atacama...Chris and I decided to visit Laguna Chaxa on our way back from San Pedro, on the way back to Iquique. Once again- that fucking travel book that I had, made this place sound like something completely different than what it was- nonetheless, still a great surprise. From the book, it sounded like it was still an actual lake, something that we might be able to swim in. We pictured a nice ...
